Our Quick Build Kit has left the Factory

Image
Today we got an email from Barry Jay that our QB kit left the factory in South Africa. Let's hope that it gets to Torrance California in January. There was a photo posted on Facebook of the kits ready to be shipped. One of them is ours! The factory is located at Tedderfield Airfield in South Africa, near Johannesburg. Shipping a container from South Africa to LA, takes 40-50 days. So hopefully it will get to KTOA in January (despite of Covid).

Hangar Space in Palo Alto

Image
Once our plane is finished we need to park it somewhere. Our friend Anawat has a hangar at KPOA where he keeps his Beechcraft Barron. He offered to share the space, the hanger is 55'x35' so it might just fit, but it will be tight! Just in case we've applied for our own hangar and paid the $500 deposit to Palo Alto. I'm sure the waiting list is long and it will take many years before a hangar becomes available. Tie down fees are $176/month or $12/day for transient parking. In the worst case we can park the plane outside, luckily the weather is reasonable in Palo Alto.  We'd need to arrange for a canvas cover. Another project!

We got N333ST

Today we got a confirmation from the FAA that we have the registration N333ST reserved for one year. Note to self: use it or lose it!
